Ryan Stassel Update

Hey everyone, Ryan here!

I hope everyone is having a fun season riding because I’ve just been having too much of it. These past few weeks have been wild traveling from comp to comp with last minute entries all mixed with long days of practice in between.

A little over two weeks ago I headed out to Copper, Colorado for the first ever World Cup Slope Style event. The course was well built and flowed well. I landed a run but missed out on finals by 1 in my heat so I ended up getting 21st out of 125 guys. Even though I didn’t make the finals, I did well enough to get an invite to compete in a few more World Cups around the world. Only 4 US riders were given these spots and I was one of them... Pretty Sweet!!

So from here, I made my last minute plane ticket to Quebec, Canada for the FIS World Snowboarding Championships. When I arrived, it was a beautiful day. 20 degrees, sunny, no wind just perfect. The course was fairly firm due to rain a few days before but do to the weather, It didn’t even bother me.... until Qualifications.  On this day, our nice sunny weather turned in to a 0 degree, flat light, windy, rock solid monster.  I was still able to land my run and make it into finals but man was it cold and firm.

On the day of the finals, The sun was out but the temp was still down in the negatives. I landed my run but not smooth enough and ended up getting 7th.

I’ve now been back in Tahoe for 5 days and have been working on some new tricks up at Squaw Valley.  I could bore you and talk about them but I’ll save you guys the hassle. haha Enjoy!!

I’ll be here training in Tahoe until the 29th when I’ll be heading out to Park City, Utah for a Big Air.  After that, I’ll be on the road going to Seven Springs, Pennsylvania for the US Open Qualifier and another World Cup in Sochi, Russia.

I’ll keep you guys posted on how I do but if you want to know sooner, you can always follow me on the USASA’s facebook.

Have fun out there!
