2014 Open Class Snowboard Qualification Criteria

2014 USASA Snowboard Nationals

Open Class HP, SS and SBX Qualification

All snowboarders awarded slots in Open Class must be members of USASA prior to registering for USASA nationals.

 

Halfpipe and Slopestyle: Total field size (men and women combined) = 160 riders

Men’s Snowboard:   

  • USASA Regional Series Winners
  • Previous year’s USASA Open Class HP/SS National Champion
  • Previous year’s Open Class Overall National Champion
  • USASA HP and SS Team (if not already qualified through the above criteria)
  • Top 10 riders from the Final USSA Revolution Tour Standings  for HP/SS
  • Invites will be sent by March 15th, 2014
  • Spots will not handed down the Rev Tour standings if a rider is already qualified through other criteria
  • 2 Riders from each WSF member nation
  • 20 Riders from the most current TTR Points list
  • Slots must be requested in writing to the USASA by March 15th, 2014
  • TTR Rankings as of 3/1/2014 will be used to determine eligibility
  • Must be a US rider ranked in the top 200 overall
  • If more than 20 riders request slots, riders will be awarded slots based on TTR ranking
  • Any remaining slots after all the above criteria will be filled through the USASA National Rankings

Women’s Snowboard:

 

  • USASA Regional Series Winners
  • Previous year’s USASA Open Class HP National Champion
  • Previous year’s Open Class Overall National Champion
USASA HP and SS Team (if not already qualified through the above criteria)
  • Top 5 riders from the Final USSA Revolution Tour Standings
  • Invites will be sent by March 15th, 2014
  • Spots will not handed down the Rev Tour standings if a rider is already qualified through other criteria
  • 2 Rider from each WSF member nation
  • 10 Riders from the TTR Points list
  • Slots must be requested in writing to the USASA by March 15th, 2014

  • Must be a US rider ranked in the top 100 overall
  • If more than 20 riders request slots, riders will be awarded slots based on TTR ranking
  • Any remaining slots after all the above criteria will be filled through the USASA National Rankings    

 

BoarderCross: Total Field Size (men and women combined) =  160

 

  • SBX rankings will be determined using the USSA system of averaging the rider’s top two finishes in the designated qualification events.
  • Point values will be assigned to each position according to the World Cup point scale (1000 pts for 1st, 800 for 2nd, 600 for 3rd, etc.)  
  • 1st tie breaker is the riders best result, 2nd tie breaker is the riders 3rd best result and 3rd tie breaker is their 4th best result.

  • Revolution Tour

Men’s SBX

 

  • USASA Regional Series Winners

Previous year’s Open Class Overall National Champion
  • US riders selected for Junior World Championship Team

  • Top 10 US riders from USSA SBX Qualifying Events (Spots not handed down if already qualified)
  • Remaining slots will be filled through the USASA National Rankings   

 

Women’s SBX

 

  • USASA Regional Series Winners
  • Previous year’s USASA Open Class SBX National Champion
  • Previous year’s Open Class Overall National Champion
  • US riders selected for Junior World Championship Team
  • USASA SBX Team (if not already qualified through the above criteria)
  • Top 5 US riders from USSA SBX Qualifying Events (Spots not handed down if already qualified
  • Remaining slots will be filled through the USASA National Rankings

 

Giant Slalom and Slalom: Total Field Size (men and women combined) =  160

 

  • Alpine rankings will be determined using the USSA system of averaging the rider’s top two finishes in the designated qualification events.

  • Top 5 Riders from FIS NorAm Standings (spots not handed down if already qualified)
  • Remaining slots will be filled through the USASA National Rankings

 

Women’s GS and SL:

  • Regional Series Winners
  • Previous year’s USASA Open Class GS National Champion
  • Previous year’s USASA Open Class SL National Champion
  • Previous year’s Open Class Overall National Champion
  • USASA Alpine Team (if not already qualified through the above criteria)
  • Top 7 US riders from USSA Race to the Cup Standings (Spots not handed down if already qualified)
  • Top 5 Riders from FIS NorAm Standings (spots not handed down if already qualified)
  • Remaining slots will be filled through the USASA National Rankings
