14 USASA series hosted Banked Slalom (BSL) events this year. Potentially 8 (4 men, 4 women) riders will be named as regional series winners from each of the four age group categories, each gender, for the 2014 BSL National Championship race at Copper Mountain.
A total 112 (14 series x 8 riders) riders could potentially qualify for the BSL event on April 4th, based on regional series winners of each of the four age groups, both genders. The cap for the event is 160 total.
- If all regionally qualified spots are filled 48 “unfilled starts” will remain to be filled. This number could fluctuate depending on age group participation, or lack thereof, at the series level.
- If an age group winner does not accept their invitation to compete, the 2nd place age group athlete is invited. If the second placed age group athlete doesn't accept the invitation, that series loses their "automatic" invitation for that age group and the spot will be added to the unfilled list.
The remaining starts, to max out at 160 total, shall come on a first-come / first-serve wait list basis, open to anyone who has competed in a USASA Banked Slalom event, including athletes that traveled out of their home series to compete.
The BSL waiting list will open at the start of “Early Bird Registration” / check in / bib pick-up for the 2014 USASA National Championships at 12:00 Noon, Friday, March 28th. Athletes must be present to sign in for the wait list and must have a competitor history for USASA BSL . Coaches or parents may not sign up on behalf of an athlete.
Daily upates of the BSL waiting list will be posted at event registration at Copper.
Event fee for BSL will be $30 / entrant, in addition to the USASA National Championships entry fee.
Final start list will be posted the morning of April 3rd, the day before the April 4th BSL National Championship event.
BSL is an “exhibition” event this year for snowboarders only. No points for overall 2014 National Champion will be accumulated or scored from the BSL event at Copper.
