NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATION

  • Regional Series are allocated one position for their series winner in each discipline, age class, gender, in events hosted. 
  • Each Regional Series may name their second-place finisher in each discipline, gender and age class as an alternate if the first place finisher declines the invite.
  • Regional Series winners or alternate spots cannot be handed down to the next available competitor if the alternate declines.
  • In the event that neither the Regional Series winner or the alternate is able to attend the National Championships, that position is forfeited and added back to the National Rank quota.
  • National Rankings will be used to seed the remaining positions up to the proposed field sizes below.
  • National Championships Qualifications will be awarded via the National Ranking list on March 18th 2022.
  • All qualifications must be claimed within 48 hours or the position will be forfeited. 
  • Beginning on March 18th 2022 the qualified athletes will be able to claim their positions and pay for entry.
  • USASA will continue to attempt to fill the field based on the qualifying criteria and will re-invite every 48 hrs until field sizes are met or until Saturday, Mar 26, 2022 at 11:59:00 pm PDT.
  • Go to National Rankings to view if you have received a qualification after March 18th.
  • Be sure keep checking your profile if you would like to secure your position.
  • Payment for each qualification is due at the time of acceptance and may occur at different invite intervals. 
  • USASA will not send email notifications of qualifications, they must be claimed from the athlete profile.
  • Once a position is forfeited it cannot be returned to the athlete under any circumstances.
  • 2019 National Champions or Overall winners will not be qualified to the 2022 National Championships based on the results from 2 years ago.
  • Rascals and 6 & Under RJ competitors are not eligible to compete at USASA National Championship.
  • All USASA Open Class competitions are FIS National Championship Events. Each competitor in the Open Class must have a USASA, US Ski & Snowboard and FIS membership.
  • Entry to Open Class only for those domestic athletes who have not competed in a USASA event in season, may be completed by signing up here. (will be active March 15th-22 only.)
  • These OPEN CLASS positions will be filled after all USASA Open Class competitors are offered a position after March 22, 2022. Entry will be validated based on the most current FIS/WSPL list to fill the field based on the highest ranked athletes first. 
  • International Competitors must hold a USASA membership and FIS license and send inscription to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Competitors may compete in Open (FIS NC) or Age Class, but may not compete in both during the USASA National Championships.
  • USASA reserves the right to adjust field sizes as needed to ensure the highest level of competition and optimal athlete experience at the National Championships.
  • Each competitor in the Open Class must have a USASA, US Ski & Snowboard and FIS membership.

COACHES

  • Helmets must be worn during inspection or training.
  • All USASA National Championships competition venues are closed to the public.
  • Only certified USASA coaches are allowed access, parents are not permitted on course or in start or finish areas.
  • Parents may drop off athletes at the start and meet at the finish area but MUST NOT SHADOW the course while an athlete is in motion on the course. 
  • Shadowing a course (skiing or riding next to a course while watching the course) is grounds for disqualification and will be enforced.
  • All Coaches must have valid USASA and US Ski & Snowboard memberships, meet all compliance standards, and purchase an armband for $25 to access all venues.
  • Pending coaches will not be permitted unless granted access via petition process below. Coach Credentials include a lift ticket and must be worn with Coach Armband. 

     

    103.13.01 Provisional Coaching Certification

  • In the event a coach/candidate has not received full certification at the close of the clinic schedule, the coach may petition the US Coaches Education Committee for provisional access to the event.

  • All prerequisites and background screening must be completed through US Ski & Snowboard and a $100 application fee will be charged on site.

Rule 103.08- Petitions for National Championship Entry- Petitions are closed and will no longer be accepted as of March 15th, 2022

  • Competitors who are unable to compete in the required events for a complete National Ranking due to extraordinary circumstances can petition to the Executive Board or designated subcommittee for entry into USASA National Championships.
  • Petition requests will be granted based on previous regional or national results, reason for petition, trend in results, available slots, venue caps and any other factor relevant to the decision.
  • Petitions will be due no later than March 13th 2022 and must be signed by the Competitor’s Regional Series Director.
  • All petitions must be accompanied by a non-refundable $200 deposit. If a petition is granted, your deposit will be returned to you. If your petition is denied, your deposit will be donated to the USASA Scholarship Fund. 
  • Foreign Competitor's may petition for entry into USASA National Championships based on relevant and exceptional International Competition results. Foreign Competitor granted entry in National Championships under this rule must compete in Open Class.
  • International Para Competitors can petition for entry to either the Para or Open Class

Please read the following prior to submitting your petition: 

  • A non-refundable deposit of $200 USD must accompany all petitions for entry into USASA National Championships. If a petition is granted, your deposit will be returned to you. If your petition is denied, your deposit will be donated to the USASA Scholarship Fund. 
  • Your regional Series Director or the USASA Executive Director must sign the petition form.
  • Any petition submitted past the deadline or without deposit or verifiable signature will be immediately rejected. 
  • All petitions are due to the USASA National Office no later than Midnight March 13, 2022. 
  • Petition decisions will be finalized by March 18th, 2022. 

Petitions will be accepted based on the below criteria.

Medical: Please provide documentation to support your medical exclusion from competing in the 2021-2022 Season. Also list previous  USASA National Championship and Regional Series results if applicable. 

Foreign Competitor: All Foreign petitions will be considered for entry into USASA Open Class events ONLY. Please provide  documentation of results from non-US Federations equivalent to USASA National or Regional competition. Also, provide  any international results and rankings (i.e. FIS, WSPL). All results or records must be official transcripts from your  country’s Snowboard Federation.  

Other: Please provide detailed information for your petition including verifiable support for your request or letters supporting your petition. Petitions requesting secured placement at the National Championships for missed events due to personal scheduling conflicts or weather postponements will likely be denied, unless extraordinary circumstances exist.

                                 Over $100k is available to be awarded in Open/FIS for the 2022 USASA National Championship in:

                                           SBX/SX, Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Rail Jam, and Snowboard PSG,PSL and Para SBX.

                                                      Prize purse is calculated based on the # of entries in each event.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS GRANT- We are no longer accepting applications for the 2021-2022 season.  

Awards will be named via email during the event.

In partnership with the USASA foundation, USASA National Championships Grants will be awarded to selected individuals who have qualified for the 2022 USASA National Championships. Applicants who represent the core values of USASA Excellence, Respect and Fun as positive contributors to their community and also demonstrate financial need will be given priority.

Applicants must be in good standing with the USASA and submit the below application and supporting documentation until midnight on March 27, 2022.

$500-$1000 awards will be named during the 2022 National Championships, and delivered shortly following the event.

Applications must be received before the deadline. Late submissions or incomplete applications will not be considered by the National Championships Grant committee. All pieces of this application must arrive together, including two letters of recommendation. If you do not have your letters available do not begin the process.
