27th Opening Ceremonies

The official commencement of the 27th Annual USASA National Championships took place Saturday, (April 2) following a full day of practice for the athletes across five disciplines - Slopestyle, Halfpipe, Slalom, Giant Slalom and Boardercross.  A large throng lined the walkways of Copper Resort's Center Village to watch the opening ceremonies which began with a parade of athletes from the 31 Regional Series.  As of the start of the parade, USASA administration reported that 1235 snowboard athletes had registered to compete.  Six hundred and twenty-one skiers had also checked in for their National Championships which begin on Saturday, April 9 with practice.

Athletes from the 31 Regional Series who will participate in the 2016 edition of the National Championships represent 41 states, and eight foreign countries (Australia, New Zealand, Korea, France, Italy, Japan, Great Britain and Canada, with four of its 10 provinces representing).

Banked Slalom Charity Competition

This 1st Annual Charity event, the Banked Slalom, is open to all.  You do not need to be a USASA member to participate.

Only 150 lucky individuals will be able to compete, two timed runs per gender, no age groups just the joy of fostering the brother & sister hood of snowboarding and freeskiing together!

NorAm Cup Finals will take place in conjunction with 2016 USASA National Championships

The 2016 USASA National Championships will host the NorAm Finals for PGS, PSL, Boardercross and Skiercross as part of the Open Class competitions. The dual sanctioning of these OPEN Class events represents a cooperative effort between the USASA, the USSA and Copper Mountain Resort.    An international roster of athletes is expected to compete at the events.  Details for these events can be found at www.usasa.org

Up to $10,000 (USD) of prize money is available to be awarded for the 2016 USASA National Championships Open Class events. Prize purse is based, by gender on the number of competitors in the field of the discipline.

Jake Pates and Chloe Kim Win Gold at Youth Olympics

USASA Alumni 17 year old Jake Pates wins Mens Gold and 18 year old Nikolas Baden wins Mens Silver at Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in snowboard halfpipe (both originally from Rocky Mountain Series since 2006).

USASA Alumni 15 year old Chloe Kim (centered) wins Ladies Gold in Ladies Halfpipe at Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games Chloe Kim is originally from our So Cal Series and currently with our Unbound Series  She has been riding with USASA since her very early years.  16 year old Emily Arthur (left) of Australia wins Silver in Ladies Halfpipe.   Emily has been with the USASA Rocky Mountain Series since 2010.
