Emily McBride
National Office Manager
Emily is new to the USASA team, but a longtime snowboarder from the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Emily comes to us with a diverse background spanning many industries, including education, hospitality, nonprofit administration, and snowboard instruction. She is excited to meet and help support our members, coaches, Series Directors and judges this season. In her free time, Emily enjoys being outdoors with her husband Matt, son Cypress and giant dog Jarvis.
Tricia Byrnes
Marketing Manager
Former professional snowboarder and industry icon, Tricia Byrnes has had her paws in everything shred for the last two and a half decades. Tricia came up through the Olympic pipeline spending 10 years on the U.S. Snowboarding Team and has competed in nearly every halfpipe snowboarding event including the first ever USASA Nationals and the 2002 Olympics. Upon retiring from competition, Tricia worked in various capacities in the snowboarding industry as an athlete manager, social media strategist, TV and Web commentator and now as USASA marketing manager.
Tricia continues to have a passion for snowboarding and the athletes that shape and define the sport. Tricia graduated from St. Michael’s College and is currently a member of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard board of directors. She shares her time between Aspen, CO, and Portland, OR where she continues to explore her passion for snowboarding and outdoor adventures.
Dana Wilson
Director of Development – Series and Fundraising
Seventeen years ago, Dana’s oldest daughter started snowboarding and competing in the USASA Upper Midwest Alt Series. After her first season, she was hooked. During that summer, the family relocated to Wisconsin and with no competitive outlet for snowboarding in the area, Dana and her husband Brian started a series and the Midwest Best series was born!
Sixteen years of volunteering has led Dana to a new career path with the USASA as Director of Development – For Series and Fundraising. Over the past 16 years, her series has grown from just 2 members to over 180, and is growing year over year. Dana has developed two regional training teams, participated in building a high school competition program, and held a seat on the USASA Executive Board of Directors.
This new position at USASA will provide the start of additional layers of support to the USASA staff. Dana’s in field experience with the USASA brand and the running of events will be highlighted in this new role. She has a polished background in the investment industry, vast experience with business development, and over a decade of volunteer fundraising that will serve the USASA well. Her new role will be instrumental in building the USASA fundraising culture, securing legacy and planned gift giving and work to secure the financial future of the USASA through a long term capital endowment campaign.

Paul Krahulec
Operations Director
Paul’s involvement with the USASA began as a volunteer parent with Team Summit in 1996 as the point of contact between the USASA and the club. He was later voted in as the series director, which allowed him to expand the series reach from just servicing the needs of the Copper Mountain locals by offering competitive opportunities to the residents of Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, Winter Park, Eldora, Ski Cooper, Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Springs. His focus has been to help enable kids to pursue the sports they love and empowering them to learn skills that will follow them into adulthood.
He began his role as the Operations Director for the USASA in 2012 and is responsible for managing our cloud-based enterprise applications and database used to power the USASA and the 32 regional series. The USASA applications provide online membership, schedules, event registration, results and weekly regional/national rankings to the series who host 500 + events at over 100 resorts through the United States. He also assists in the coordination of the USASA calendar in cooperation with both the US Ski & Snowboard, the FIS & WSF / WSPL to minimize scheduling conflicts. Paul is a former World Snowboard Federation Board member, Rocky Mountain representative for US Ski & Snowboard, is currently both a Snowboard and Freestyle Ski Technical Delegate for the FIS, officiating World Cup / NorAM events and serves as the Commissioner for the USASA Technical Commission.
Mike Mallon
Executive Director
Mike first began working with the USASA as the Head Coach of the USASA Junior National Team in 1996. For the next five years, he hosted JNT camps in Steamboat Springs where he was the Program Director of the SSWSC. Mike then went on to lead the Stratton Mtn School and Carrabassett Valley Academy. After retiring from coaching in 2016, Mike has been continuing his passion for snowsports as the Executive Director of USASA. His commitment to the development of Snowboarding and Freeskiing in America is constant. In addition to his role as one of the top coaches in the world and an esteemed academy leader, he also served as the Sport Committee Chairman and was a member of the USSA Board of Directors for six years through two Olympic cycles.
Mike was the President of the USASA and led the board for four years as president. His colleagues have recognized his dedication to the sport with awards such as Domestic Coach of the Year, Anna McIntyre Citation, the prestigious FIS TD Westhaven Award, the John Clair Award, and five times his programs were recognized as Program of the Year by USSA. Mike is the only member of the USASA to hold both a TS4 (trainer) and a Coaches level 400 certification. He also serves as a Technical Delegate for FIS, FIS World Cup and Nor-am events, is a USASA National TS and was the delegate from FIS in Korea at World Championships in 2009.
