Happy March, everyone!
I just got back from Holimont, New York, where the third and final Race to the Cup of the year was held. We arrived late on the 21st and trained the next day. The race was two PGSs on the 23rd and 24th, and I couldn’t be happier with how I did. The first race day was very exciting, as it was beautiful and sunny. After time trials, I qualified for finals in 9th place, which meant I had to race the woman in 8th. I won and advanced to face Ariane Lavigne, the woman who qualified 1st. I fell my first run and she had max differential on me (which meant she started 1.46 seconds before me), but I just thought to myself, “Well, I’ve got nothing to lose!” and went for it. I took a lot of risks that run, but it paid off and I ended up beating her by a hair!
Next, I went against the woman who qualified 4th and beat her both runs. My last two runs were against Mimi Wiencke to determine 1st place and 2nd place. While I was ahead on the first run, I fell the second run and got 2nd place overall, my best finish ever at a NorAm Cup! I couldn’t be happier. The second day it snowed, so the course was a bit softer than the day before. I was exhausted and sore, but still managed to get 7th. The Holimont Race to the Cup was the last alpine qualifier for Junior Worlds, and I am happy to say that I will be going to Junior Worlds again this year! I can’t wait to go to Italy. I hope to do well and make it into finals again this year. I look forward to seeing everyone at USASA Nationals!
