I just returned from Colorado and our first annual USASA Fall Summit. What an amazing event! The weekend was packed with things to do including judging, coaching and Techinical Supervisor training clinics, dinners, snowboarding and a USASA Board Meeting with 45 in attendance including 17 Series Directors! The clinics were incredibly informative for everyone and it goes without saying that the event needs to happen every year for sure.I even got to go snowboarding, which is very rare for me. I packed at the last minute before heading out there, only to find that I forgot sunglasses, long underwear, a hat and I brought my wife's jacket instead of mine. I got some pretty crazy looks on the hill in her gripper Women's Medium jacket and a baseball hat in 20 degree weather. What a dork.
We had some great meetings with Copper Mtn as well and things are looking solid for Nationals this year. It is only November and we are already so far ahead with regards to planning the event and making sure we provide the best possible experience for everyone involved.
Copper Mtn. was super helpful and welcoming, providing meeting space, lodging deals and confirming to us that we made the right decision to take Nationals back to Copper for at least the next two years. A big thanks goes out to everyone that helped make the event such an overwhelmingly huge success. For those Series Directors that couldn't make it this year, we missed you, so put it on the calendar now to plan on being there next year!
