EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE 2022/23 USASA SEASON

Created: 16 November 2022

As you prepare for your first USASA event of the season we wanted to share some tips to help make your experience more enjoyable. Whether this is your first USASA competition or you are a seasoned pro, check the quick list below to make sure you have everything you need!

REGISTRATION: Be sure to sign up well in advance to make sure you are entered into the competitions you want to be a part of. USASA competitions can fill up so plan well ahead and be sure to register in advance. You will need a USASA membership to register.

ADULTS: If you are over 18 you must register at US Ski & Snowboard to satisfy your background screening requirements and safe sport education before you register for a USASA event. Clearance can take up to two weeks or longer in some states.

BIBS: Every USASA competitor is issued a competition bib when they sign up at USASA. If you are an existing member you are expected to use the bib you were given last season. If you are a new member one will be provided for you at your first competition of the year.

REPLACEMENT BIBS: If you have lost your bib or forget your bib for any event you can purchase a new one in advance via the team app where the event you are going to is. The bib will be ready for you to pick up at registration. Loaner bibs will not be available so make sure you buy one in advance if yours gets misplaced.

EVENT INFORMATION: Go to the USASA Team app page and find your series to find all of the communication needed for each event. You can purchase a bib, find lift ticket information, check competition and heat times and important game day knowledge to help you be prepared and ready to shred! Opt-in for updates and to be reminded when there are adjustments to the schedule.

QUALIFICATION TO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: There are two ways to qualify! Both begin at your local USASA series. Test your skills each week and level up your results to gain entry to the premier event of the year! For a full breakdown be sure to check the USASA Rulebook HERE.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONS: Each series is allocated one National Championships qualification per gender/age/discipline to be awarded to their Series Regional Champion. You must declare which series is your home series and this is the only series where you can win a Regional Champion title and gain your instant qualification to the USASA National Championships.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: All regional events are also scored collectively to populate the USASA National Ranking. An athlete's best three results are considered for the ranking and is updated every two weeks throughout the year. After March 12th, 2023 the final results will be tallied and the National Ranking will be set. After the Regional Champions are awarded their positions the remainder of the event fields will be filled from the National Ranking. Event field sizes are a sliding scale representative of the total number of members in an age group nationwide.

OTHER RESOURCES: Be sure to check out the USASA website for information on rules and judging criteria for USASA events. It is each competitor's and parent's responsibility to be familiar with the rules and adhere to the USASA code of conduct.

HAVE FUN: USASA events are the starting place for competitors of all ages and abilities. It is easy to find your way at your first event, but if you have questions, we are here for you! The Series Director on site can partner you up with a more experienced athlete and help guide you through your day. Just let us know this is your first event and we will help you along.

We can’t wait to see you this year and are looking forward to another great year.
